What’s in a Name – MMS or Miracle Mineral?
Is MMS experiencing an identity crisis? Why do some people call it MMS, some people call it Miracle Mineral Supplement, and others call it Miracle Mineral Solution? What’s going on here?
There’s a short answer and a long answer. The short answer is that different people like different words, so they call MMS by different names. Some people like the ring of ‘Miracle Mineral Supplement’ and some like the word ‘Solution.’ Others (like us) find MMS to be much easier to type, speak, and think about.
But the simple answer isn’t enough. Here’s the long answer (which isn’t really that long).
When the first information about MMS was released to the world a few years ago, it was known as the ‘Miracle Mineral Supplement.’ This has a nice ring to it – and it has weight as well. The word ‘miracle’ is certainly an attention-getter. Of course, MMS lives up to its original name in many ways. That is certainly not up for debate. MMS has proven itself as a safe alternative to many traditional products in many different industries.
After MMS initially made its way around the internet, people began referring to MMS as the ‘Miracle Mineral Solution’ in various forums and blogs. We can identify two major reasons for this change in language.
The first is because MMS can be confusing for some people to understand. When referred to as a ‘supplement,’ some people think of a health supplement, which brings to mind pills, recommended daily allowances, and other language related to the health supplement industry. This can be confusing for people learning about MMS because MMS does not fit in well with this language. MMS is a two-part product made up of two liquids that are combined together to create chlorine dioxide gas. It is not a pill, it's not an herb or plant, and it has no so-called ‘daily recommended allowances’ or any such language associated with it.
Of course, we do not sell our MMS as a health supplement for this very reason. More on that later.
The second major reason for the name change is because the term ‘miracle mineral solution’ is in some ways a more accurate description of MMS than ‘miracle mineral supplement.’ After all, MMS is a solution, and so is its activator. A solution simply means a solid dissolved into a liquid. This describes MMS perfectly, since MMS is sodium chlorite dissolved into water, and the activator is citri acid dissolbed in water.
The final chapter in this story ends with the acronym ‘MMS.’ Of course, MMS is easier to type, so this makes the name appealing. It is also much easier to market a product with a simple acronym name than a name with three large words. But there is more to it than that.
By referring to MMS as a supplement – or even using the world mineral! – MMS distributors are exposing themselves to the world of the alternative health, wellness, and supplement industry. This is a double-edged sword. Why?
On the one hand, the alternative health industry has been exploding across the world and continues to do so at rapid rates. This means that if MMS is referred to as a supplement, it will get more exposure to this enormous market, which is good for everyone.
On the other hand, the seriously ambiguous language contained in legislation regarding health supplements, and the selective enforcement of this language by various government agencies, makes the health supplement industry difficult to navigate at times. There is, or course, also an influence created by the traditional medicine and pharmaceutical industries to selectively target alternative health products that pose a threat to their market share.
With these considerations in mind, many 'miracle mineral supplement' distributors now simply refer to their products as MMS.
Anyone who has used MMS for a long period of time knows that it becomes a staple product in their home. MMS is good for so many things that it is difficult to understand why it has not been a common household product for 50 years. Be that as it may, it is still in its infancy.
Hopefully, as everyone sorts out the name game, MMS will continue to flourish into the 21st century.
